According to Wikipedia – the arbiter of all things – Beltsville history goes back to 1649 and evolved into the nice suburban enclave of single family homes, town houses and condos it is today.

Beltsville is, indeed, situated just north of College Park, MD and the Washington Beltway. It has easy access to great commuter routes (RT 95 for the north to south route and RT 495 for around Washington, DC). It’s not too far from METRO. It also has great bargain shopping with a local IKEA and Costco as well as a number of restaurants and parks.

Beltsville is also home to a large Federal Government research facility – the Agricultural Research Service of USDA – with lots of farmland for both crops and livestock. It’s also a short drive (about 5 minutes) to the University of MD.
